They come to campus thinking, exploring and questioning.
With Cleveland Hillel’s support, they are inspired, connected and enriched.
As the fall semester concludes we are pleased to inform you that we have been serving Jewish undergraduate, graduate, and professional students at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, John Caroll, Tri-C (other campuses throughout Cleveland) and at Oberlin College. Working closely with our student leaders a plethora of programs are organized by Hillel to strenghthen the commitment of our students to their Jewish identity and the Jewish community. Whatever their interests may be there is something to offer every student. Fall semester activities included:
- Welcome back BBQs, ice cream socials and dorm programs
- A “home away from home” for High Holidays, Succot and weekly Shabbat celebrations
- A wide array of speakers including Israeli cabinet minister Benny Begin; Israeli historian Benny Morris; Vanessa Ochs on “Medicine and Multiculturalism” and Paul Kerson on the “Origins of Holocaust Litigation”
- Mentoring and career development opportunities for graduate and professional students along with social programming
- Weekly Torah study and learning with guest Rabbis
- Community service such as bake sale to support sustainable energy initiatives; dance marathon to help Lost Boys of the Sudan; bowl-a-thon to benefit Jewish Big Brothers/Sisters
Cleveland Hillel also is now providing year round activity for students in Cleveland with programming during breaks and through paid summer internships and events.
Our important work of providing a wide range of programs and opportunities can only continue with your partnership. Every gift,at any level, is important to us. We ask you to consider a generous gift to our annual campaign.
We wish you a joyous Chanukah, which Hillel will celebrate all week on campus through a rich variety of programming.
